‘Cotton cultivator farmers human rights violations shall be stopped immediately’ –Adv. Asim Sarode
If process of participation in the development is the part of the human rights concept then I must say that farmers in Vidarbha are facing violation of fundamental rights on day to day basis. There choice to take decision about their crop has been taken away by the government on various counts by introducing bad policies. In Vidarbha, every day 3 farmers are committing suicide since the year 2005 which is surly a very painful fact said Human right activist Adv. Asim Sarode. In Vidarbha every day 3 farmers are committing suicides since 2005 and presently 3 million cotton farmers who are facing crop losses were living under confusion. On this backdrop the Union commerce and industry minister Anand Sharma’s announcement that the government has decided to withdraw the ban on the export of cotton from India is a good decision expressed Adv.Sarode
When Indian domestic demand is just 20 million bales as against national production of 33 million bales there was no reason in putting on the Indian cotton export. This has in fact exposed the miss management and wrong decision making of commerce ministry. Adv. Sarode who is also one of the advisors on the working group related to framing new labor policies of the National Planning Commission has expressed his thanks to Union Power Minister Sharad Pawar who has opposed the ban on cotton export. Whether the export of cotton is good or bad shall be decided by the farmers and the government agencies shall take participation of the cross sections of the cotton grower farmers and not just participation of the so called farmer leaders he said.
